Countries and flags
The list of 197 countries covers the 193 member states of the United Nations, plus the Vatican, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Names follow common English usage; other usual names are also accepted in the games.
Flag images are provided by flagcdn.com, a service of Flagpedia. National flags are in the public domain.
Capitals
Capitals also follow common English usage. For countries with several capitals (Bolivia, South Africa, Sri Lanka…), each one is accepted; the one displayed is the official capital or the seat of government.
Populations
Populations are the United Nations estimates as of 1 July 2024 (World Population Prospects 2024), rounded. For Kosovo, missing from these estimates, the figure comes from the 2024 census of the Kosovo Agency of Statistics.
Areas and peaks
Areas are total surfaces (land and inland waters) published by national institutes and used by the United Nations; for France, this is metropolitan France. Highest points and their elevations follow standard geographical references; some elevations vary by a few metres depending on the survey. For the Netherlands, the highest peak is Mount Scenery, on the island of Saba, which is part of the Netherlands.
