How is Culturette funded?
By the people who buy it a coffee. The site has no ads and no subscription: every donation funds new games, new questions and hosting. Buy a coffee ☕
How is my progress calculated?
Every question you have answered correctly at least once counts as learned. Each game's progress bar shows how many you have learned in the chosen theme or region.
How does review mode work?
Turned on in a game's settings, it makes you copy out every answer you miss. When the timer ends, all your mistakes come back in a loop until you get them without help.
Where are my scores and progress stored?
On your device, in your browser: no account is needed to play. If you sign in, with Google or through a link sent by email, your progress is also saved online and you can find it on all your devices.
What is the account for?
Only to save your progress and records so you can find them on another device. You choose your first name or a nickname and an avatar. When you sign in, what you have already done on this device is merged with your online progress: nothing is lost.
Where do the flags and data come from?
Flags are provided by flagcdn.com. Country and capital names follow common English usage; for countries with several capitals, each one is accepted.
Which countries are included?
The 193 UN member states, the Vatican, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan: 197 countries.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes, every game adapts to phone and tablet screens.
