Higher or lower
Two countries face off: click the more populous one, the larger one, or the one with the higher peak. If you're right, it moves to the left and a new country arrives. One mistake and the streak ends.

How to play
Pick a criterion (population, area or highest peak) and a region, then compare. The country on the left shows its value; you say whether the one on the right is higher or lower, by clicking the right country or with the arrow keys. Every correct answer extends your streak, and the right-hand country moves to the left.
The first duels pit very different countries against each other. The longer your streak, the narrower the gaps. At the end, see all the countries from your game ranked by population: enough to remember a few orders of magnitude.
Your best streak is saved on your device, for each criterion and each region.
Did you know?
Since 2023, India has been the most populous country in the world, with more than 1.4 billion people.
The world's smallest state is also the least populous. The next ones, Tuvalu and Nauru, have about 10,000 people.
With more than 230 million people, it is by far the most populous country in Africa, ahead of Ethiopia and Egypt.
